Letter from Year 2 Staff w/c 22nd June

Date: 19th Jun 2020 @ 1:57pm

Dear Year 2,

Wow! We can’t believe it’s Friday again already.  Hopefully, you are still all well and have been accessing the Oak Academy lessons from home. It’s been fantastic to hear from you this week – please remember to keep sending us updates and / or photos so we can see what you’ve been up to.

Mrs Williams has been impressed with Laiba’s hard work this week. She has done some fabulous maths work and her English included lots of fantastic expanded noun phrases - her handwriting was beautiful too! Amaya has been busy learning the colours in Spanish. Mrs Williams also loved the photo of her pet rabbit.

Miss March has been so proud of Awen who has tried hard to do lots of work whilst her mummy has been busy working too. She has also enjoyed the weather with her family and even had a splash in the paddling pool! Ayesha has done some fantastic writing and created a character description of ‘The Goddess of the Lake’. Her handwriting looks brilliant, it really impressed me!

Miss March’s Adventures

I have had an extremely busy week this week as I pick puppy Luna up on Saturday so I have had to spend lots of time preparing the house to make sure nothing gets chewed or broken! I have also spent lots of time in my garden where I have been learning a new skill on how to lay a patio- it has been very stressful and I don’t think I will be changing my job any time soon! As well as spending lots of time at home, I have also been into school which was lovely! Over the next couple of weeks I will be teaching in Reception and this is something I am very excited about, although I will miss seeing all of your smiling faces in school each day, it will be very strange. I have not taught in Reception for a couple of years so I am excited for the challenge. Please don’t forget that I am still available to speak to by email so if you have any worries, concerns or you just want to say hello please send me a message.

Mrs Williams’ Adventures

I’ve still been working on my garden - at the weekend I bagged up over 50 large bags of rubber bark chippings! It’s from where Amaya used to have a play area but she hasn’t used it for years so we’re claiming it back!  On Tuesday, it was Mr Williams’ birthday and so we had a mini celebration with just the 3 of us – and cake of course!   I’ve been kept busy proof-reading reports this week – you won’t be getting them for a few weeks as yet though!

Warm colours help us think of warm and cosy things, while cool colours may remind us of fresh, calm and chilly things. We will create a piece of work inspired by Georgia O’Keeffe, who used warm and cool colours in her artwork. You will need a piece of paper, a pencil and some paints or colouring pencils.

PSHE- My lockdown feelings.  In today’s lesson, we will review our time capsule that we created last lesson. We will reflect on our lockdown experience and on how it has felt being away from school for so long. We will think about what we have enjoyed and create a feelings jar, filled with all of the things that have made us happy, which might help others feel better about their experience.

PE – Joe Wicks PE is still available but from this week he is moving to 3 mornings per week (Mon, Wed, Sat).  For this week, as we are a week behind, you should be able to access the videos each mornings on his YouTube channel. Keep being active, you do not have to do the Joe workouts though - there are lots of different ways to get your heart pumping – go for a walk, bike ride, run around in the garden, jump, hop, skip, dance, whatever you want to do!

Remember…try your best, do a little bit each day and if you’re stuck get in touch with us [email protected] and [email protected]
