Reading
Reading is very important at Moldgreen and we have worked very hard to improve the delivery and impact of reading across school. With the recent injection of Little Wandle phonics and specific phonic books we have a solid and secure start to early reading for our pupils. We then quickly move in KS1 to comprehension and analysis of our reading using the Reading Domains.
We structure our reading lessons so the above 5 areas are covered with the children. Children read with adults and complete independent work based on the 5 Reading Domains. We also promote prosody as well as discussion of the text and re-reading for fluency and for pleasure.
In KS2, the children engage in Reading Journal lessons and these are planned in detail to ensure coverage of genre as well as coverage of the above reading domains. We support children with interventions where their reading ability needs support and we extend their learning through the use of well chosen genres. We are working with the children at completing work based on unseen texts to then support the children to interegate the text and self mark to ensure they have full understanding. Our structure is highlighted in the 'Reading at Moldgreen' document.

Reading is so important and again we will be supporting World Book Day 2022 this year. The theme is 'Changing lives through a love of book and shared reading'.
